Lot of real estate in a small package Jul 30, 2010 When I inadvertently trashed my 20" monitor (people -- don't throw your mouse no matter how nasty a bad beat you take) I thought I was going to have to shell out $400 for something comparable. Fortunately I found this at half the price. The DPI is a bit on the tight side, but that is my preference anyhow (I still have decent eyes). It DOES require a dual-link DVI cable to operate at native resolution, where my 20" did not, and this was not included with my refurb (they included a single). Still, the picture is excellent and the price is astounding. The only complaint would be that it suffers more than some other monitors when you wander too far off center, especially vertically.
Would I buy it again? Yes -- and I did! I got another one for a different room rather than having to compromise, and now I'm thinking of buying a third to take to work.
If you do not like the stand, any plain 100x100 VESA mount stand will work. I swapped the stand on one of mine but never bothered with the second -- I just stuck a book underneath it instead.
One good out of three is not acceptable Jul 22, 2010 The first monitor I purchased had an absolutly pristine display, crisp, sharp, good color. The next I got for a new build displayed diagonal streaking on light colored backgrounds, like a watermark on good paper,or as I thought more likely someone had tried to clean the screen with a dirty rag.The streaks are, however, behind the viewing surface and are more visible when viewed at an oblique angle.I got a third monitor, again on the strength of the picture displayed by the first- it had similar streaking from upper right to lower left, but not as bad as the 2nd. I've tried it with 3 different video cards in two different computers with no difference whatever.I changed the cable too.I finally disassembled the worst of the three, thereby voiding all warranties express or implied, but curiosity got the better of me.Plus which if I could fix it I'd be a happy boy.The piece of glass that you look at seems to be a combination of polarizer and anti-glare filter. The polarizer side is glossy, and the A-G side matte. I placed the polarizer shiny side up and observed the very same streaking both in reflection and transmission of normal light. The glass is warped!
I assume this glass is rolled rather than ground,as grinding would be very expensive. One can only assume that whoever gave Samsung the glass must have not dressed their rollers properly.
Samsung tech support has been most unuseful, plainly the poor schmuck on the phone is only reading from a diagnostic program, since they all ask exactly the same questions, and end with"Monitor bad!- send for repair. No they can't find anyone who knows about LCD displays,so sorry.Repair estimates are around $200,so why bother.I'd be happy enough to put the polarizer in myself, but parts are mysteriously unavailable.
Really this is a 4 star monitor,if you can get one with good glass- odds 1:3 33%;not good.
High resolution May 11, 2010 So I decided I wanted another monitor and someone suggested this one. I bought the refurbished one because I didn't exactly have 400 bucks to spend on a monitor. I love buying refurbished things because they are always just as good as new and much much cheaper.
The monitor itself it beautiful. Games (haven't tried movies) look amazing at this resolution. My computer detected it instantly and the auto button on it made it easy to set up.
Some people complain about the touch strip but it really doesn't bother me, in fact it's quite nice.
Overall a great buy.

Not-usable...Messed up customer service Apr 03, 2010 I bought this back in July and is now already defected. It displays waves.... I tried to request repair, but it is not being accepted. I will never buy anything from Samsung!!! although this might be a good product as many others have reviewed, yet if you are like me and get screwed, you will be frustrated like me. Just dont buy anything from SAMSUNG!!!!
Good Value Monitor Apr 01, 2010 Monitor came in good condition and quickly. Resolution is excellent. Cons- non push buttons can be annoying sometimes and non adjustable height. Overall an excellent value for a widescreen monitor and higher resolution than your standard 1920X1080
